Design Process
Each piece of our furniture is handcrafted in our Hudson Valley studio from naturally fallen hardwoods, with chairs available in Black Walnut or Cherry. From the moment the wood arrives in our workshop, it undergoes our signature hands-on process—including milling, drying, preparation, carving, and finishing—all reflecting our commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship. Every step, from raw material to final piece, takes place on-site to ensure the highest quality.
When you're ready to place an order, we offer a personalized consultation to guide you through the process. Share photos and measurements of your space, and whether you’re looking for a single statement piece or an entire room of custom furniture, we’ll work closely with you to create a perfect fit—both functionally and aesthetically.
Payment & Shipping
Once your order is placed, please allow approximately twelve weeks for your furniture to leave our studio. Every step—from hand-selecting your unique wood and kiln-drying it to carving and finishing—is a meticulous process that takes time to ensure the highest quality.
A 50% deposit is required at the time of ordering. All domestic orders are delivered via our white-glove, in-home service for a seamless experience. When your piece is ready to ship, we will provide a shipping quote and final invoice for the remaining balance.
Conoid Bench
Design Interpretation by Gordon Woodwork
Live-edge, wide planks are milled, dried, and finished in our Hudson Valley studio. The Conoid Bench surface ranges from 72”-96”. The backrest is crafted with twenty vertical wooden rods, each wider at the center and tapered at the ends. The rods connect to a smooth concave horizontal piece of wood at the top. There is no armrest and the backrest doesn’t stretch all the way to the right, but reaches to the left end of the seat, leaving the wide right edge empty. The angled and shaped supports of the base demonstrate the finest characteristics of Japanese Joinery.
Minimalist and elegant in its design, with its natural, curving edges still intact, our Conoid Bench is inspired by George Nakashima’s iconic Conoid Bench and our appreciation for the design aesthetic inspired by the Midcentury Modern and American Studio movements.
