Conoid Bench
Sculptural Simplicity. Deep Craft Tradition.
Inspired by George Nakashima’s iconic design, the Conoid Bench celebrates natural form and meticulous craftsmanship. Its live-edge surface — milled and finished in our Hudson Valley studio — ranges from 72″ to 96″, preserving the organic beauty of the wood. The backrest features twenty hand-shaped wooden rods, wider at the center and tapered at the ends, anchored by a smooth, curved crest rail. In true Nakashima fashion, the asymmetry is intentional — extending the back only to the left side, leaving the right edge open for visual balance and practical function. Angled supports at the base reflect the precision of Japanese joinery, offering strength and elegance without compromise. Handcrafted from naturally fallen Black Walnut, Oak, or Cherry, each bench goes through our full on-site process — from milling and drying to carving and finishing — with sustainability at the heart of every step.
